Vacation!!

We spent 7 nights in Williamsburg last week and had a fabulous time!  Here are a few of the many highlights (in random order!)

Busch Gardens!!

Elaina went on the Lochness Monster with me and then again 2 more times with Erik- it was my first loop roller coaster as a kid and I loved sharing it with her too!
We loved the European theme, lots of rides and great shows!
Coolin' off in the shade while Dad and Elaina hit another roller coaster
This was Erik's favorite place!!

USS Wisconsin, Nauticus Museum in Norfolk

This aquarium was really fun!

We took a drive on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel

The girls thought this dead puffer fish was a pretty cool find on the beach!

Virginia Beach

Our little spot- with plenty of shade and snacks, but they still spent most of the time in the water!

Elaina caught this toad on our walk one night- we couldn't catch any of the hundreds of jumping frogs that scattered everywhere on the path.... wish we at least knew what kind they were!

Governor's Palace in Williamsburg
This was an impressive/intimidating entryway!

We did the RevQuest/spy game while we were there- it was a fun way to explore the city!

Stylin' it on the tennis courts at our hotel!

We stopped in DC on our way to VA so we could see some of the landmarks there.

Historic Jamestown

Replica Powhatan Village

Inside one of the huts

Just making' some flour!

Aboard the replica Susan Constant

Soldier boy

Yorktown Battlefield

We spent lots of time in our hotel pool.  It was a record breaking week of heat while we were there with temps in the mid-upper 90s and heat index 105-115 everyday.

Elaina's dance recital

Elaina did an amazing job at her dance recital yesterday.  She performed a ballet piece to "All Creatures of Our God and King" that brought tears to my eyes everytime I watched it in practice and in the recital. Her jazz piece was an adorable routine to "Rockin Around the Clock."  She's now a 50's music fan!

Weekend Fun with cousins!

We always enjoy when the cousins come for a visit!
On our way into the train tunnel- it was dark and wet!!

Fun at the playground

This fun went a little too far, but it's just mud and water, right?!

Kindergartener

I can't believe our youngest is only a Kindergartener for 3 more days!!
She lost her first tooth!!
Field day at school was cold but fun!
Tug of war was her favorite!

Erik and I took her out to lunch and to Build-a-Bear to help celebrate a great first full year of school!
