Super Hero!

All of the 2nd grade students at Owen's school just finished a unit studying super heroes.  They talked about real life heroes and what makes a hero.  To culminate the unit, each child got to become their own superhero.  Owen chose to base his off of one of his favorite animals, the pergrine falcon.  Falcon Man's motto:  "It is better to attack from the sky than from the ground."  He can speak all animal languages, can dive at over 200 mph and rescues endangered animals.  They had a parade at school yesterday and today our whole family participated in the "Super Hero 5K"
Flapping his wings- he designed and made the mask, talons, logo and the inside feathers of his wings- it was a fun project!

With his buddy, "Pet Man"

Pinterest is a wonderful, evil thing- grateful for the idea but much more involved than I planned!

Lots of 2nd graders showed up for the race

Our whole family participated in the race- Owen and Erik completed the 5K in 40 minutes.

Pirate Parrot was there to cheer everybody on!

Great job, Owen!!

Family Bowling

We took our first family bowling trip this week- so fun!!

Sled Rides

Owen enjoyed giving his sisters sled rides during their snow delay last Monday.  It was great to get them out one last time, but I'm hoping it IS the last time for about 8-9 months!

Happy Spring!

Elaina had fun making these flower cupcakes for our family for the first day of Spring.  They look a little like snowflakes... appropriate for the way this month has been here!

Waxy Wednesday

We celebrated Dr. Suess week awhile back here at home and with the kids' school.  Audrey was especially into Wacky Wednesday, although she kept calling it "Waxy Wednesday."  It was so cute, especially with all of the crazy hairstyles and silly things that she came up with that I just let her keep calling it that.
We made Oobleck on Waxy Wednesday too!

Happy Birthday with Hats

We celebrated Erik's birthday last night with the family.  Owen designed a hat for the birthday boy and then continued to make several more that the rest of us could "purchase" for anywhere between 1-3 cents each.  So we all raided our piggy banks and wore these stylin' hats for the party:

As he was opening his cards, the kids would blow their noise makers "if it was a good one."  Needless to say, there was lots of noise going on!

This special "DaD" birthday hat has a black feather on top so that it also has Steelers colors!
